WELCOME TO THE COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCESS!

CLASS OF 2012

The Counseling Center is excited to implement a new college application process beginning with the class of 2012!  In order to service your student and the college admission offices and their changes, AQ will begin to mainstream college applications through Naviance.  Some of the highlighted features that this program will be able to offer each student are: provides one central means to apply to colleges; prompt and efficient delivery of electronic materials such as letters of recommendation and transcripts; a data base that gathers historical data from our students who have applied and been admitted providing future AQ students with a profile; and a means for career and college exploration.

Your student has been working with Naviance for at least three years exploring their personality type, building a resume’ and conducting career and college searches.  We encourage you to log on and explore the MANY valuable features that this program has to offer as well as see what your student has completed in their career and college searches.  To access Naviance, please log on to:

Many colleges require that SAT and ACT scores are sent directly from the testing agency.  Beginning this year, students will need to request that scores be sent directly from the agency to the college.   Please refer to collegeboard.org and actstudent.org for fee information. Simply go back into these websites that you used to register for the tests and request to send scores.  It will prompt you to identify the schools that you want a score report to be sent to.  This process will ensure that your student’s colleges and universities receive them.

Please refer to the copy of the “Senior Check List” and the instructions for the Naviance College Application Process.  The students were given a copy and copies were mailed home after the counselors conducted a computer lab session with the Seniors during their English class on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 to advise them on this new process.   These documents are also available by clicking below.

All students must schedule an appointment with Mrs. Karen Sadler in The Counseling Center once they have completed their college applications.  They are welcome to set up a meeting with her prior to that if they need further clarification on the process.   Please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Karen Sadler or your student’s counselor with any questions or concerns.

Best wishes for a successful Senior year!
