The Aquinas Technical Theatre Program is responsible for the maintenance, program, and construction of all Theatre Productions, Concerts, Dance Concerts, and visiting organizations. It is a completely student run organization; students are in charge of building, designing and implementing all aspects of technical theatre. All tech students are encouraged to come to set construction. We will be working on lights, sound, set, costume and props during this time. While most students will eventually find an area they would like to specialize in as an upperclassmen, all students are encouraged to work in a variety of crews to learn more about the process as a whole.
Students are trained on machinery and tools at the beginning of each production. Safety is the number one priority of our program at all times. Students involved in the Technical Theatre Program must read, learn, understand and follow the OSHA state guidelines before participating in any production.
Crew Chiefs are upperclassmen who have been active in the techincal theatre program for more than one year, who have shown interest in a specific area of technical theatre. Students wishing to be crew chiefs must demonstrate leadership skills, posess a higher understanding of the design and production process, and spend at least two productions as an apprentice under the current Crew Chief. Any student interested in a position for the 2012-2013 school year must let Ms. Horton know in the beginning of the year, and are appointed during the spring musical for the following year.
