Jim Shook Named Head Coach of The Aquinas Institute’s Varsity Softball Team

The Aquinas Institute of Rochester is proud to announce Jim Shook as the new Head Coach of the Varsity Softball Team.

Shook has dedicated his career to Aquinas, excelling in various roles both in and out of the classroom. As an educator, he has served as English Department Chair, Yearbook Advisor, Freshman Class Moderator, New Student Orientation Coordinator, New Teacher Mentor, Capstone Advisor, and Assistant Director of the Aquinas Theatre Program. His leadership has also extended to programs such as AQ’s Big Brother/Big Sister Program Coordinator and the Aquinas Faculty Staff Council (AFSC) Inaugural President and Founding Member.

A skilled coach, Shook’s athletic achievements are equally remarkable. He has coached baseball at all levels—Varsity, JV, and Freshman—and was inducted into the Aquinas Hall of Fame in 2024 as part of the 2009 State Championship Baseball Team. Shook has also previously coached Varsity Softball at Austin-East High School in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he honed his ability to inspire and lead young athletes. His own athletic career includes playing both baseball and football at the collegiate level, further enriching his understanding of the game.

Shook’s commitment to excellence and his passion for fostering student-athlete development will undoubtedly elevate the Varsity Softball Team. Known for his ability to build strong, supportive teams, Shook is excited to return to the diamond and lead the program into its next chapter.
