Scholarships & Awards

There are currently more than 95 named Scholarships in the Aquinas Institute Endowment. These provide $2 million in financial aid and/or scholarships each year to nearly 60% of Aquinas students. To view the complete list of scholarships, please click the following:

>> High School Merit Scholarships

At The Aquinas Institute, academics are highly valued. Students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement are eligible for a number of scholarships. Scholarships are also awarded based on a student’s performance on the placement exam.

Academic Scholarships for High School Students Entering Aquinas at Grade 9

The Aquinas Principal’s Award for Academic Excellence

Returning Aquinas students in grades 9-12 are eligible for the following scholarships based on class rank:

  • Any new student entering 9th grade at Aquinas with an average of 92 in his/her previous year’s core courses (English, social studies, math, science and religion, if applicable) will receive a $1,000 scholarship for his/her first year at Aquinas. AQMS 8th graders moving up to 9th grade are not eligible for this scholarship, please see Class Rank (High School).

Scholarship for Class Rank (High School)

The Robert B. '49 and Mary Hastings Academic Scholarship

Returning Aquinas students in grades 9-12 are eligible for the following scholarships based on class rank:

  • $2,000 – Class rank #1

  • $1,000 – Class rank #2-5

  • $750 – Class rank #6-10

  • $500 – Class rank #11 – up to top 10% of returning class

9th Grade Placement Exam Scholarships

The Kenneth P. Schleich ’46 Placement Exam Award

  • All 9th grade test takers, including current AQ 8th graders are eligible

  • Students with the top 5 scores on this exam receive a one-time $1,000 scholarship

Returning 7th and 8th grade Aquinas students are eligible for the following scholarships based on class rank:

  • $1,000 – Class rank #1

  • $750 – Class rank #2-5

  • $500 – Class rank #6 – up to top 10% of returning class

Grade 6 & 7 Placement Exam Scholarships

In addition to academic achievement, Aquinas also offers an award to families who remain committed to Catholic education. First-year students entering 6th or 7th grade at The Aquinas Institute will receive a one-time $500 award if they meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a newly registered student

  • Student must have attended a DOR elementary parish school for at least 3 years

  • Student must currently be enrolled in a DOR elementary parish school
